General care of your jewels

A jewel can preserve its beauty for years, since i tis handled and cared correctly taking into account its raw material – gold, silver, silver plated, precious stones, pearls, among others.

To increase the durability of your jewel, in its original condition, you must avoid direct application of perfumes, sprays, creams, make-up, chemical cleaning articles and other products that might as well contain chemicals. The salt water or water containing disinfectants (e.g.,chlorine) can also damage some of the raw materials. For this reason, we recommend that you do not use them when going to the beach or pool.

Jewelry cleaning

Pearls are an organic material and therefore require some specific care. They should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and left to dry completely before storing. They should not be stored together with harder materials.

Silver jewelry without stones

Silver should be cleaned with a damp flannel cloth with a product indicated for cleaning silver.

Silver jewelry with stones

Silver should be cleaned with a damp flannel cloth with a product indicated for cleaning silver and you should avoid the stone, which should be cleaned only with a damp cloth and allowed to dry before storing.

Jewelry gold-plated or rhodium

Once the gold/rhodium is given on the surface of your jewels you can’t apply any cleaning products. To preserve the baths with each piece of jewelry, you should clean only with a dry cloth without rubbing.

Steel jewelry

The steel can be cleaned with any product, since that they always keep the original brightness and color. However, although it is a durable material, can in some cases cause damage, thereby please you may have special care with jewels of smooth surfaces.

Stone by Stone advises you not to use your jewelry when you:

  • Wash your hands;
  • Got to the beach or swimming pool;
  • Do exercise (sweat is also a strong corrosive)
